While you might have you festive holiday wardrobe lined up, you have to have the glam to go with it! The holidays are the perfect excuse to add a little glitz to your everyday makeup look. Here are the products I used to create this sparkly, festive makeup look, and the tips and tricks to go along with it!
1) Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation Stick
Since this was a more dramatic look, I used the Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation Stick, which is a fuller coverage foundation and provides a flawless look to the skin. This foundation also does not contain SPF, so it is perfect if you are going to be photographed, as it will not give a white cast in flash photos. I use the color Honey 5. TIP: Stripe the foundation in vertical stripes (I do about 3-4 stripes per side of my face, and blend in circular motions with a foundation brush (I use this foundation brush from IT Cosmetics).
2) Highlight with Tarte Cosmetics Concealer
To give some dimension to my face and highlight certain areas, I use this concealer from Tarte Cosmetics. This concealer is one of my all time favorites! It provides full coverage and stays in place all day. TIP: Draw a "V" under your eyes to highlight your under eye and upper cheekbone area. I also draw a stripe down the center of my nose (I'll continue the bit about nose contouring later in this post). For best results, set your concealer with this IT Cosmetics pressed translucent powder.
3) Set your foundation with powder
This simple step goes a long way. To ensure that your makeup stays on for an extended period of time, and to make your face look smoother overall, I use this NYX "No Filter" setting powder to set my face makeup. I use a large stippling brush and sweep it on in circling motions.
4) Contour, Blush, and Highlight
These are probably my favorite steps in my beauty routine, they really make and shape the face! First, I use a brozner from Kiko Milano to contour my face by applying it right under my cheekbone, and also on the perimeter of my forehead. I also contour my nose but drawing straight lines down either side of the bridge of my nose. Next, I apply a subtle blush on the apples of my cheeks. Finally, I use this Becca highlighting powder to highlight my upper cheekbone, bridge of my nose, and lightly dust a little on the center of my forehead.
4) The Eyes
For the eyes, I got started with this cream glitter eyeshadow in a champagne color from Kiko Milano. I applied it with a small brush from lash line to crease. Next, I took a matte taupe color from this palette from The Balm Cosmetics, and used a fluffy blending brush to apply this to my upper crease. TIP: Use windshield wiper motions until the shadow is completely blended and there are no harsh lines.
I filled in my brows with NYX Cosmetics "Sculpt and Highlight Brow Contour" in the color Espresso. TIP: Use short strokes with your brow pencil to create a more natural look.
Next, I lined my waterline with this Lancome Cosmetics gel eyeliner. I created my cat eye liner with Lancome's Artliner, which is one of my all time favorite products! Both Lancome liners that I use stay on almost all day and don't smudge. Finally, I applied this mascara from Clinique. This mascara is another one of my all time favorites. The brush is really unique, but it provides a lot of intensity, length, and volume, and almost creates a false lash look.
5) The Lips
For the lips, I kept it neutral, but you could definitely play it up with a more dramatic look for a night out or holiday party. In the photo above, I used Lancome lipliner in the color "Ideal", MAC Cosmetics lipstick in the color "Politely Pink", and I topped it off with Buxom's Full-On Lip Polish in the color "Kimberly" (this gloss is also a lip plumper!).
If you want to go for a red lip to make the look more dramatic and festive, my favorite products are MAC Cosmetics lipliner in "Cherry" and the lipstick "Russian Red." The lipstick is a matte texture, so it stays on all night with minimal to no touch ups, and does not rub off on drinking glasses. It's a must have!
